ESET SysInspector 1.2.026

ESET SysInspector Editor's Review

If you feel like your computer is performing strange, has unexpected down times or the loading times have been increased significantly, there is a big chance that your machine has been exposed to malicious programs. With ESET SysInspector you can scan your computer and detect all these issues sorted based on categories, components and processes and filtered based on a risk level.

ESET SysInspector scans almost anything on your computer creating a detailed report from where you can actually see any bugs or strange conflicts that may cause problems. The report can be saved locally in two formats: one for personal use and one suitable for sending. The second one includes no personal information and can be sent for further analyzes to specialized forums such the one from the ESET community.

All the information is sorted based on categories, components and processes and displayed in a tree architecture. You can expand for a deeper view categories like Windows registry, network connections, drivers, system informations or running processes. While clicking on a root category, its components will be displayed in detail on the right side of the interface. In case you want to see any logical connections or other dependencies, you can click on a component and the application will display any additional explanations on right bottom of the interface.

A useful option is the comparison function that lets you compare two different reports. In this way you can view any differences that might have occured during a period of time on your system. You can detect any added, removed, replaced or changed components. But you have to be aware that not all the so called hazard components might be malicious. So pay attention what you decide to delete, cause you might cause additional damage to your operating system.

ESET SysInspector helps you troubleshoot a wide range of system issues but does not provide a real time protection. It can certainly point out a conflict or a strange process but it cannot clean the system from malwares or other malicious programs. ESET SysInspector can be found as a free standalone application or integrated into ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 and ESET Smart Security 4.

Pluses: free, fast scanning process, creates extremely detailed reports, you can compare two different reports and detect any differences, displays any logical connection between processes;

Drawbacks/flaws: lack of real time protection, features no special service for resolving the reports;

In conclusion: ESET NOD32 is a very good troubleshooting tool for the average user, that can bring you closer to a proper solution.
